Kiya’s Injera started her food business here at Wandering Cooks in August 2019 and we were all so excited that we had an injera maker in the kitchens. Kiya came to Australia and identified very quickly that it would be difficult for her to achieve a job that would fit in with her husband and 2 children.
After working in a kitchen, Kiya felt she was ready to start her own business and lucky for her, her friend mentioned Wandering Cooks and Kiya came along to meet the team. Very soon, Kiya’s Injera was born!
Kiya cooked often for her family back in Ethiopia, it was part of the culture that the women fed the tribe. This is where Kiya found a joy in feeding people (the team at Wandering Cooks gets fed very well!) and sharing so her food is made to create that connection.
Kiya has relied heavily on her husband, her friend and Billy from Wandering Cooks to start her business and she is extremely thankful. We’re so happy that she’s here.
Some of the most beautiful Injera you’ve ever tasted. Anywhere.
