Three years ago Vanessa Ah Colt stumbled upon a blog inspiring her to learn more about the science of baking and the numerous flavour combinations that she could potentially put together. And thus Made in Mayhem was born! For Vanessa, her driven approach to researching dessert making is a hobby she thoroughly enjoys – and who wouldn’t!? Vanessa gets to master the art of sweet things in her own time and therefore has the luxury of taking the odd break here and there.
Vanessa is learning the art of being a business owner by ensuring that all jobs Made in Mayhem takes on align with her business ethos or engages the business in a direction it is aiming for. Having started out making cupcakes, Made in Mayhem is now beginning to construct wedding cakes and create tempting, indulgent, original desserts. Take this bad boy for example: Tahitian vanilla bean cake, cookie butter, dulce de leche, shortbread crumb, soaked in ganache and rollin in a Made in Mayhem cookie blend, lathered with house made pink salt caramel and vanilla ice-cream. Honestly – read that again and tell me you don’t want a piece of that dessert!
As Made in Mayhem develops, it is moving in a direction that will allow Vanessa and her staff to continue to gain exposure with an eye to eventually being a recipe developer whilst travelling. Which means everyone can be keeping an eye out for a Mayhem pop-up near them!
