Join Kym Cooper – owner of The Steepery as she hosts this workshop where you can get started in unravelling the world of pure leaf tea and gain practical skills to commence your own journey.
You’ll begin the workshop by examining the botanicals of the product with a focus on origin, terroir and provenance and why these elements are important in the making and authenticity. Kym will touch on the rich history and how this has contributed to tea in the modern day.
You will learn about the main types and styles while gaining an insight into the craft of tea making and the many masterful hands involved in finishing this deliciousness to its best form.
You will enjoy tasting several styles of the pure leaf form from a selection of the world’s most important growing regions to appreciate the incredible diversity in flavour profiles. During the tasting, you will have an opportunity to evaluate the characteristics such as fragrance, body, colour and taste (just like wine!) and gain some basic skills to assess quality.
Tea will be brewed and shared authentically to demonstrate different preparation methods, brewing vessels and cultural traditions. You will learn the parameters for the successful infusion of leaf tea.
Kym is excited to team up with Indie Treats to present a selection of yummy bites during the workshop. These will include both savoury and sweet light snacks to make your experience a little more special.
